Luthen Rael's Fondor Haulcraft

The Fondor Haulcraft was a heavily modified transport ship used by rebel spymaster Luthen Rael during the events of the Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor.

This ship is very dear to me, not only because it looks quite unique (although it has definitely a few design elements in common with the Millennium Falcon), but also because it's associated with the best character of one of my favorite pieces of Star Wars media. For that reason, I've been meaning to tackle this design for some time, but had a lot of difficulty with the model's complex angles. Most of the MOCs I've seen online of this ship are incredibly large, practically UCS style builds that require a ton of parts and are difficult do display and/or swoosh around, and I wanted to build something that would not look out of place besides most of the Star Wars LEGO sets currently being sold. The result is a "play scale" version of the Fondor at a size that's dictated mostly by the size of the 2x6 and 3x12 Wedge plates that are essential to reproduce some of its shallow, subtle angles.

The model can fit one pilot minifigure in the cockpit, but also has a detailed interior space that can house a few more minifigs. The main "play feature" is the wing mechanism: each wing can be folded down and then retracted into a landing configuration by pushing the gun turret down (which also kind of "hides" the weapons while landed). A lot of research was made to make sure the details are accurate, even if the proportions aren't perfect (mostly due to the size of the windscreen piece, a piece from the Ahsoka Jedi Shuttle that has details that are very closed to what was needed for this ship).
