Throw your hat in the air!
The definitive L-gauge 1829 L&MR Stephenson's Rocket is finally on Rebrickable!
This MOC design is also available as part of the Stephenson's Rocket Display Set
UPDATE: There was one too many 1x2 plates above the firebox, causing the boiler not to connect. The LBG plate has been removed, and replaced by the existing med. azure plate to represent water. PDF Instructions updated.
FEATURES
- Life-like reciprocating pistons with multi-point articulation
- Wooden-clad boiler
- Water barrel with water
- Multi-tubular boiler and water represented behind firebox
- Gold nameplates
- Designed directly from blueprints
- Built using all official LEGO parts (no custom pieces required - though I'm sure someone will put larger yellow drivers on!)
(Wagons and display stand, as well as a packaged set of instructions are all coming soon!)
After two long series of the Bricklink Designer Program (thank you for your patience, advice and votes!), entry in the Brick Train Awards, and having been selected for display in the LEGO House throughout 2024, Stephenson's Rocket is now here for you to build for your own layout or display!
If making without "ROCKET" sticker, in my opinion, it's best to replace the 1x2 gold tiles with metallic gold ingots as this gives the indication of a name plaque without the need for a sticker (see LEGO House photo below)
A Journey Through History
Step back in time to the dawn of the railway era with this meticulously crafted locomotive, designed directly from the blueprints of one of the most iconic locomotives in history - George Stephenson's Rocket.
Stephenson's Rocket marked a turning point in transportation, revolutionizing the way people, goods and mail travelled. Now, you can relive this historic moment in brick-built detail. This set beautifully recreates the locomotive, tender, and a selection of carriages, providing a glimpse into the past like never before.
"...designed to provide the most enjoyable building experience possible."
Stephenson's Rocket is not just a display piece; it's an educational tool. Learn about the early days of steam locomotion, the innovations that made Rocket legendary, and the impact it had on society. It's a fantastic way to engage children and adults alike in the wonders of history and engineering.
Thank you for joining me for this remarkable journey of engineering, innovation and design. Your support has helped bring the magic of Stephenson's Rocket to homes around the world!
