ARC-170 MOD

This is a modification of set 8088 ARC-170 Starfighter, updated in 2024. Also known as the Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighter, this ship was used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars and featured in the opening battle of Revenge of the Sith, being regarded by fans as one of the best looking starfighters of the prequel era.

Set 8088 is already a great model, but there were some areas I wanted to improve. First of all was the mechanism for opening the "wings", which was completely redesigned in order to eliminate the need of rubber bands and make the opening action quicker. I also redesigned the cockpit interiors and eliminated some gaps around the canopies. Other superficial changes were made, most importantly the redesign of the engine inlets, that are now brick built and more faithful to the source material.

The 2024 update redesigned the opening mechanism once again, to make it more reliable and easier to use. Other improvements include better cockpit details, retractable landing gear and a more accurate shape for the wings.
