Malyutka Class Submarine

Following the Battleships I designed back in 2018, this is a smaller ship or in fact submarine that was once used by the Soviet Navy. The LEGO Malyutka Class Submarine MOC is not built to any scale. But you could label it as a miniature scaled one since it's just as small as an anchovy.



The M-class submarines, also known as the Malyutka class (Russian: Малютка; meaning baby or little one), represented a class of small, single- or 1½-hulled submarines that played a crucial role during World War II. Manufactured in the Soviet Union, these submarines were characterized by their innovative construction approach, with sections built separately for ease of transportation by rail. The Gorky Shipyard, located on the Volga River, served as the primary production site for these submarines.

The unique assembly process involved transporting the submarine sections by railway to Leningrad, where final assembly and fitting out took place. Notably, the construction of the M-class submarines marked a significant milestone as it introduced welding techniques to Soviet submarine manufacturing, showcasing advancements in technology and production methods. The Malyutka class submarines contributed to the Soviet naval efforts during World War II, reflecting adaptability and innovation in response to the challenges of the time.
