What does a European Ambulance mean? Well by the European CEN 1789 Standard, an Emergency Vehicle meant for the transportation of patients to a medical facility must feature a bright yellow paintjob and some kind of visible pattern to discern it from ordinary traffic vehicles. European countries commonly use the "Battenburg" pattern seen as a checkered pattern along the full length of the vehicle.
