IMPORTANT CONSUMER NOTE PLEASE READ!
Regarding the "classic" style of single-piece canopy:
If you are planning to do the cockpit modification making use of the single piece canopy, I have not included that piece in the parts list, since there are several versions with different prints available. I recommend part 6289537: Cockpit 4x7x2 W/ Angle, W/Shaft No.4, but any version of this mold will work, and prices very dramatically so choose wisely! Just to be clear, when ordering the parts for the single cockpit mod as shown at the end of the instructions, you will need to use the additional parts list included here, and then manually add part 6289537, or the canopy of your choosing.
Regarding the new Flex-Tube Canopy:
I have included the 29L flex tube in Flat Silver in the parts inventory, because I feel the color is overall the best available option, however if you want to save around $1.80 on the final cost, you can substitute this part for 75c16 in Light Bluish-Grey. This will give you the exact amount of tubing required to cut the 3 pieces, but will not look as good due to the color (in my opinion).
I added a comment with an image showing one minor correction to the instructions, omitting one single 1x3 plate that was placed there by mistake. The model does not need this part and will not go together properly with it. Sorry for the confusion!
Those of you who have already purchased the original version of my T65 X-Wing (https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-59321/2bricksofficial/incom-t-65-x-wing-starfighter-red-5/#details) will be able to download these instructions for free! They should be available to download from the same place you got the initial instructions from!
*end of note, on with the description!*
---------------
This latest iteration of the T-65 X-wing has seen dramatic improvements since version 1! This minifigure-scale fighter still boasts a slick opening and closing wing mechanism, retractable landing gear, seating for a pilot and astromech droid (seated facing forward unlike most official sets!), as well as a very sturdy design that doesn't rely on any rubber bands or odd/rare elements.
---
Improvements made: Overall more accurate shaping. Improved aesthetics with reduction in visible studs and added surface details. New Canopy which is now brick-built and relies on flex tubing to get the accurate shape (an alternate design is included in the instructions to allow you to make use of the standard 1-piece cockpit however, should you prefer!). The engine outlets have been redesigned for screen accuracy, as have the wing-tip laser canons, which boast a greatly improved scale and shape. The torpedo launchers are now included in the design, and the model boasts slightly more space in the underside storage compartment. Finally, the Targeting Computer has been added, so Luke can make the decision to...not use it...to blow up the Death Star! The same stand (https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-59322/2bricksofficial/stand-for-2bricks-t-65-x-wing-starfighter-red-5/#details) is still compatible with this design!
