Description
The Fang Fighter is a close range one-pilot fighter that is almost always confused with its larger cousin, the Gauntlet Starfighter. This ship actually barely shows up in the background of The Mandalorian, and is more clearly featured in the episode of Star Wars: Rebels titled "The Protector of Concord Dawn". Unlike the Gauntlet, it does not rotate its wings upright into a landing position, but its main distinct characteristic is the ability to rotate the wings along the main axis of the ship while flying to make it harder to hit, a feature that was not included in the first and only version of the ship officially released in a LEGO set.
This is therefore my modification of the ship included in set 75348, that adds this feature. The wings can rotate freely and the engines were modified to allow for a spot to hold the model while rotating. The build is still sturdy, but the weight of the wings can cause them to sag a little bit (about half a plate at the front). To make the connection to the axis a bit stronger, I had to make a small modification to the interior, but the minifigure will still fit while equipped with the jetpack.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN ALTERNATE BUILD OF THE SET, AND IT REQUIRES PARTS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SET, although I did my best to require a minimum of extra parts.
Here's another look at the model.
