This custom TIE Interceptor is very similar to my TIE Fighter Build. The cockpit glass is not completely covered and actually does allow a little glimpse of the pilot inside. The hatch also accurately opens from the top of the ship. To place a pilot inside the minifigure must be seated with their arms down at their sides and be dropped into the cockpit. To remove the minifigure from the cockpit the Tie Fighter must be turned upside-down and the figure will fall out.
If you want to own both my Interceptor and TIE Fighter I have a discounted combination pack here.
Dimensions:
7" Long
6" Wide
5" Tall
This ship is 1/43 scale
The ship stands 8" tall when displayed on my custom display stand which can be found here
If you want to better understand the scale I use for my ships check out this video.
MODIFICATIONS NOTES:
At 1:43 in my video above I discuss the design choice of using 1x2 clip plates for more stability rather than 1x1 clips which are more accurate. I have two possible solutions for those wishing to modify the 1x2 clips in favor of more accuracy:
1. If you favor the use 1x1 clips, as mentioned in my video, I suggest also using 1x12 and 1x3 plates as well for each wing to accommodate the slightly shortened wing. This is a great solution for those only wanting to display their Interceptor and/or have older children that will pick it up. ITEM NOs needed: 15712, 60479, 3623 (4x each piece)
2. After creating this video a very smart viewer discussed using a 1x3 Hinge Tile (44300). This is a fantastic and sturdy solution that I am currently using on my personal build. The only drawback is that this piece is less common and technically it does put a little strain (albeit very small) on the hinge joint, for those reasons I have kept the build as is. But for those wanting the best stability and accuracy I think this is the best solution. ITEM NOs needed: 44300, 44302, 60479, 3623, 3069, 63864 (4x each piece)
