⬛⬜⬛⬜ THE MOC ⬜⬛⬜⬛
This year I want to focus more on requested ships from the past few years on my YouTube channel. My MV Wilhelm Gustloff MOC is the first one on the list.
I experimented a lot with this build, in fact I might of came up with a new building technique which allowed me to build the lifeboats onto upside-down 1x3 modified plates. I've also included a simple display stand to place the ship.
I designed this MOC at an approximate scale of 1:1400.
⬛⬜⬛⬜ HISTORY ⬜⬛⬜⬛
The MV Wilhelm Gustloff was a German ocean liner launched in 1937, originally built to serve as a cruise ship for the "Kraft durch Freude" ("Strength Through Joy") program. During World War II, it was repurposed as a hospital ship and later used to evacuate civilians, wounded soldiers, and refugees from advancing Soviet forces. On January 30, 1945, while carrying over 10,000 passengers, the ship was struck by torpedoes from a Soviet submarine in the icy Baltic Sea. Tragically, an estimated 9,000 people perished, making it the deadliest maritime disaster in history.
