Description
Another 2018 MOC that also has a video instructions video on my YouTube Channel. The LEGO ORP Blyskawica Destroyer MOC is a special one to me despite its simplicity in detail and design. I think it's mostly due to the original blue and black camouflage covering the entirety of this small ship.
ORP Błyskawica, part of the Grom-class destroyers, proudly served in the Polish Navy during World War II. This historic vessel holds a unique distinction as the only Polish Navy ship adorned with the Virtuti Militari, Poland's highest military order for gallantry. In recognition of its wartime contributions, ORP Błyskawica was honored with the Pro Memoria Medal in 2012. Today, this remarkable destroyer stands as a symbol of courage and resilience, preserved as a museum ship in Gdynia.
Constructed by J. Samuel White in Cowes between 1935 and 1937, Błyskawica was the second of the two Grom-class destroyers. Renowned for their formidable armament and exceptional speed, the Grom-class destroyers played a vital role during World War II. ORP Błyskawica, now moored next to the Dar Pomorza, stands as a living testament to Poland's naval history and bravery, holding the distinction of being the oldest preserved destroyer in the world.
