⬛⬜⬛⬜ THE MOC ⬜⬛⬜⬛
I'm trying something new for this year's SubMayRine event and I think by the end of the month you'll see what will make it so different compared to the previous years.
This 1:260 scaled version of the M-200 Malyutka-Class submarine comes with its own display stand and a hidden easter egg in it as well. I used historical blueprints to make it as accurate as parts even though I was limited with some visual materials such as photos.
⬛⬜⬛⬜ HISTORY ⬜⬛⬜⬛
The M-200 Myest (Месть, “Vengeance”) was a Soviet Malyutka-class submarine of the XV series, a design that emerged during World War II and remained active into the Cold War. Constructed in Leningrad in 1940 and launched in 1943, Myest was part of a line of small, rugged torpedo submarines used in coastal waters.
Though only four of the XV series were completed during the war, Myest saw postwar service with the Baltic Fleet. Tragedy struck on November 21, 1956, when Myest collided with the Statny off the coast of Estonia. Eight men were thrown from the conning tower into the sea; six survived. Inside, nearly two dozen sailors remained trapped. A desperate rescue followed, as the crew in the forward torpedo room stayed alive for over 24 hours in pitch-black, zing conditions, communicating via a buoy phone line.
Rescue attempts were delayed by indecision and worsening weather. Eventually, the crew tried to escape on their own, only to fail. All remaining men perished while the captain was charged with criminal negligence and sentenced to three years of hard labor.
