Description
Set 75393 Tie Fighter and X-Wing Mash-up had one of the best minifig scale X-Wings ever released by LEGO, but sadly the set's gimmick, which was switching the "wings" between the two ships, meant the X-Wing couldn't have a working s-foils mechanism. This mod is aimed at remedying that.
From the outside, this MOD isn't much different from the original set. The wings are closer together, reducing the gap between them and the hull, and making the wingspan a couple of studs shorter. The astromech slot is moved 1 stud forward (I needed the extra space behind it in order to secure firmly the s-foils mechanism). Details were added to the engines, and finally, the weapons were made a bit longer, to make them more accurate.
I kept most of the play features, except that the wings cannot be removed and swapped with the panels from the Tie Fighter, but instead, the s-foils can now be opened by pressing the round tile at the top of the hull section. It still has retractable landing gear (very similar to the ones on the set's model), and still has projectile shooters and a section that opens up at the rear.
PLEASE NOTE THIS CANNOT BE BUILT WITH ONLY THE PARTS FROM SET 75393. It uses many parts from the set, but requires some extra ones. I did my best to use as many parts from the set as possible, so if you own the set and want to build this MOC, you can find out what extra parts you'll need by using the COMPARE MOC feature on the bottom of the MOC page on Rebrickable to compare the MOC to the original set.
If you choose to acquire these instructions, I hope you enjoy this build and highly appreciate your support!
