⬛⬜⬛⬜ THE MOC ⬜⬛⬜⬛
We're in the middle of SubMayRine month 2025 and I'm back again with another submarine design from World War II. This is the U-995, one of the last Type VII fully preserved submarines in the world.
To be exact, this is a Type VIIC/41 submarine, I just had to simplify the naming.
I designed this MOC at a 1:260 scale and it is to scale with the M-200 submarine released in 2025.
⬛⬜⬛⬜ HISTORY ⬜⬛⬜⬛
U-995 is a preserved German Type VIIC/41 submarine that served with the Kriegsmarine during World War II. Laid down in 1943 and commissioned in 1944, U-995 was part of the improved Type VIIC class, designed for better diving depth and slightly lighter construction compared to earlier models. These submarines were the workhorses of Germany's U-boat fleet, widely used in the Battle of the Atlantic.
U-995 survived the war and was eventually transferred to the Royal Norwegian Navy, where it served as Kaura until 1965. In 1971, it was returned to Germany and turned into a museum ship at Laboe Naval Memorial near Kiel. It remains one of the few surviving Type VII U-boats and provides an important historical insight into submarine warfare during the Second World War.
