⬛⬜⬛⬜ THE MOC ⬜⬛⬜⬛

Just a simple creation of mine that I posted a few years ago on my YouTube Channel. The LEGO USS Langley Aircraft Carrier MOC isn't built to any scale but I sure hope to remake it into something even better in the future!

⬛⬜⬛⬜ HISTORY ⬜⬛⬜⬛

USS Langley (CV-1/AV-3) stands as the United States Navy's inaugural aircraft carrier, converted in 1920 from the collier USS Jupiter (Navy Fleet Collier No. 3). This vessel holds the distinction of being the US Navy's first turbo-electric-powered ship. Originally, plans to convert another collier were set but were abandoned due to the Washington Naval Treaty. The treaty's stipulations led to the cancellation of the partially built Lexington-class battlecruisers Lexington and Saratoga. Consequently, their hulls were repurposed for conversion into the aircraft carriers Lexington and Saratoga.

The ship was named in honor of Samuel Langley, an American aviation pioneer. After undergoing another conversion into a seaplane tender, Langley played a role in World War II. On 27 February 1942, while transporting a cargo of USAAF P-40s to Java, she fell victim to an attack by nine twin-engine Japanese bombers from the 21st and 23rd naval air flotillas. The damage sustained was so severe that Langley had to be scuttled by her escorts. She remains the only carrier of her class.
