MOC-165546-1
I've been preparing for the upcoming Advent Calendar MOCs and have forgotten to post around 5-6 LEGO MOCs I released as YouTube Shorts on my YouTube Channel. The LEGO Vainamoinen Coastal Defence Ship is finally here!
Väinämöinen, the inaugural ship of her class, stood as a Finnish coastal defense vessel, mirroring the design of her sister ship and the Finnish Navy's flagship, Ilmarinen. Constructed at the Crichton-Vulcan shipyard in Turku, Väinämöinen was launched in 1932, showcasing the nation's commitment to naval capabilities. This vessel played a significant role in bolstering Finland's coastal defense forces.
However, following the conclusion of the Continuation War, Väinämöinen underwent a notable shift in ownership. As part of war reparations, the ship was ceded to the Soviet Union and subsequently renamed Vyborg. Under Soviet control, Vyborg continued its maritime service until its eventual scrapping in 1966, marking the conclusion of its active naval life. The story of Väinämöinen stands as a testament to the complex historical dynamics and changes in ownership during this period.
This LEGO® MOC was designed, created and rendered by The Bobby Brix Channel in 2018.
